It was the most awkward, random, unexpected flub of the 2014 Oscars:
John Travolta got up on stage… gushed over Idina Menzel… and then introduced the Broadway legend as “Adele Dazim.”
The Internet was left in stitches and in the hours that followed: How did he screw up the singer’s name this badly? How did he not acknowledge the mistake soon afterward?
Well, now Travolta has done so.
“I’ve been beating myself up all day,” the actor said a statement, referencing the Academy Award-winning song Menzel belted out on stage and adding:
“Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She’d say, let it go, let it go!”¬†
Okay, that’s pretty funny. Well done, John Travolta Publicist!
According to sources, Menzel herself laughed it off, with an insider telling People “she thought it was funny.”
